Heating your home can be tricky. This is especially true if you have only recently moved in. It can feel like your home just isn’t warming up like it used to, and isn’t a comfortable temperature. Here at K and M Maintenance, we are boiler and heating experts. As a result, we have produced this guide to warming up your home.
Boiler size
The first thing that springs to mind when customers are struggling to warm their home, is that the boiler may be too small.
For example, in new builds, it is common practice for the builders to install the minimum boiler size required. This means the boiler will be working at full capacity all the time.
Alternatively, your home may have had an extension added, including some more radiators. This may just be too much for your boiler to handle, and you may need to up-size.
Radiator sludge
The second reason why your home may not be as warm as it once was is related to your radiators. If your radiators are only warm at the top, and nowhere else, then sludge could be your problem. Sludge builds up inside your radiator and prevents the hot water from circulating correctly.
If your radiators aren’t working efficiently, warming your home will be difficult. Think about power-flushing your radiators to clean out the sludge.
Thermostat problems
The thermostat is in charge of the temperature. If you are struggling to achieve a warm home, it makes sense to check the thermostat. Even if you have it set on the highest setting, the boiler may not read it correctly if it is faulty. This means that you will have no control over the temperature you want to set. As a result, your room wont get as warm as you would like.
In summary
The temperature of your room can be affected by the boiler size, the radiators efficiency and the thermostat. If you are having difficult warming up your home, why not contact the experts at K and M Maintenance today?
